Scripture: James 1:17 (KJV)
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights…”
Have you ever been so busy waiting for something extraordinary that you failed to appreciate something wonderful that was already happening?
Sometimes we're waiting for the big breakthrough, the financial blessing, the promotion, the healing, or the answer to a prayer. And while we're waiting, life keeps happening.
Someone calls to check on us. Somebody makes us laugh. We enjoy a meal with our family. We wake up to another opportunity to experience God's goodness. But because these moments seem ordinary, we sometimes fail to recognize them as blessings.
Just because something happens regularly doesn't mean it isn't a blessing.
We can become accustomed to God's provision until we begin treating His faithfulness as an expectation rather than a gift. Yet James reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes from above.
Psalm 118:24 declares, “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” The Scripture doesn't tell us to wait until everything goes according to our plans before rejoicing. This day itself is a gift.
Even when the day is difficult, there may still be moments of grace worth recognizing. Gratefulness doesn't require us to pretend that everything is wonderful; it invites us to notice God's goodness even when everything around us isn't wonderful.
A kind word. A phone call. Another chance to love someone. These may seem small, but their significance is often greater than we realize.
Gratefulness is recognizing God's goodness in moments we once considered ordinary. Don't become so preoccupied with what hasn't happened that you overlook what God has already placed before you.
What blessings have become so familiar that I've stopped appreciating them? Am I allowing what I don't have to overshadow what I do have? What moment today deserves my immediate gratitude?
Pause three times today and recognize something good happening in that moment. Thank God for it immediately; if someone contributed to that blessing, thank that person too.
Heavenly Father, in the name of Yeshua, thank You for the gift of another day. Forgive me for overlooking Your goodness because I was focused on what I wanted next. Open my eyes to the blessings in ordinary moments, the people You've placed in my life, and the grace that sustains me. Teach me to recognize what You've already given. Even here, even now, even in this, Lord, I am grateful. In Yeshua's name, Amen.

It's easy to compare your life to someone else's highlight reel. But God has already placed good gifts in your life—friends, family, another day, another chance, and His grace. Don't scroll past the blessings He's already given you.
What would you miss if it were suddenly gone? Have you thanked God for it lately?
Before scrolling today, list three things you're grateful for. Then send one person a message explaining why you appreciate them.
Lord, open my eyes to the good things You've already given me. Help me stop comparing and start appreciating. Amen.
