GRATEFUL — Even Here, Even Now, Even in This
Thursday's message with Pastor Kirby
“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”
Have you ever thanked someone with your words but failed to show appreciation through your actions? We all know how to say “thank you.” Yet sometimes the greater question is whether our lives reflect the gratitude our lips express.
Paul teaches in Colossians 3 that thankfulness belongs alongside the peace of Christ, the Word of Christ, worship, and all we do in word or deed. Gratitude is more than a passing emotion. It is a daily way of living in response to God's grace.
Gratefulness is recognizing the grace you received, even when you didn't realize you needed it. God's mercy has sustained us in ways we cannot fully count. We sometimes recognize His protection, guidance, or provision only after looking back.
Gratefulness is recognizing God's goodness in moments you once considered ordinary. The ordinary kindness of a friend, the chance to begin again, and the blessing of another day all deserve our attention.
Gratefulness is remembering what God has done without forgetting the people He used to do it. We honor God when we treat people with dignity, offer encouragement, and express appreciation while they can hear it.
Thankfulness is demonstrated through service without resentment, generosity without applause, forgiveness without keeping score, and kindness that is not dependent upon receiving a reward.
If nobody heard you say “thank You,” would your actions still reveal a grateful heart?
Choose one practical action: help someone without being asked, send an encouraging message, show patience where you would normally complain, or thank someone whose service usually goes unnoticed.
Gratitude is not merely what I say about God's goodness; it is how I respond to His goodness.
Heavenly Father, in Yeshua's name, thank You for the grace that surrounds me. Forgive me when my words of thanksgiving are not reflected in the way I live. Open my eyes to Your goodness, help me appreciate the people You have placed around me, and teach me to serve with a thankful heart. Let my words and deeds honor You. Even here, even now, even in this, Lord, I am grateful. Amen.

It's easy to type “thanks” or send a quick reaction. But what happens when gratefulness requires effort? Helping at home. Checking on a friend. Giving credit to a classmate. Listening instead of interrupting.
Being grateful doesn't mean you never struggle or wish something were different. It means you notice the good and let that appreciation shape your choices.
Here's the challenge: Your actions can say “thank you” just as powerfully as your words. Think of one person who has been there for you. Do something today that shows you appreciate them.
Show gratitude in three ways today: say it, text it, and do something kind without expecting a reward.
Jesus, help me notice the good around me and express gratitude in the way I treat people. Let my attitude and actions show Your love. Amen.
Today's Big Idea: Thanking God is something we can do with our words AND our actions!
Families: choose one small act of service to do together. Afterwards, talk about how it felt to show gratitude instead of only talking about it.
Dear Jesus, thank You for loving us. Help us use our hands, words, and choices to show kindness and gratitude. Amen.
“My gratitude will be more than words. It will be visible in how I live, love, and serve.”
One WORD. Every Generation.
