All Saints Day Devotion: A Call to Perseverance and Purpose

Good morning Ekklesia

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” – Hebrews 12:1 (NLT)

On All Saints Day, we honor those who’ve walked the path of faith before us—faithful men and women who ran their race with endurance and devotion, passing on a legacy of unwavering love and commitment to God. This day reminds us that we’re part of something bigger; we’re surrounded by a “cloud of witnesses,” those who have shown that a life fully surrendered to Christ is not only possible but powerful. Their lives echo the call to continue forward, knowing our strength lies in Christ, who empowers us to walk in purpose.

We may often feel burdened by the challenges of daily life or the weight of sin, but All Saints Day calls us to rise above these limitations. Reflecting on the saints, we see that the journey of faith isn’t about perfection but persistence. Just as they did, we must lay aside distractions, aligning ourselves with God’s call. Today, ask yourself, “What weight am I carrying that hinders my walk with Christ?” and consider how God might be inviting you to let it go, embracing a lighter, purer, and more focused life of discipleship.

"Lord, we thank You for the faithful saints who have gone before us, whose lives inspire us to follow You with all we have. Help us to let go of every weight and sin that hinders us, and to run our race with endurance. We surrender our hearts to You, asking for courage to live boldly in Your name. Strengthen us in our purpose, Lord, and may we, like those before us, leave a legacy of love and faithfulness for future generations. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
