Boasting on God

"Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God." (Psalm 20:7)

Good morning Ekklesia, today we stand in awe and gratitude, witnessing the mighty hand of God at work. Psalm 20:7 reminds us where our true trust lies. In moments of crisis, while the world may place its confidence in earthly powers and human strength, we, the Ekklesia, boast in the name of our Lord.

Recently, my father faced a near-death experience. In those harrowing moments, our hearts were tested. Yet, the outpouring of prayers, visits, calls, and encouragement from all of you, coupled with the diligent care from the doctors, nurses, and staff at Norton Hospital, brought us through. Above all, it was God who healed my father, and for this, we give Him the highest praise.

The context of Psalm 20 is a royal psalm, a prayer for the king as he goes into battle. Chariots and horses represent military might, the best human resources of the time. However, David declares that true victory comes not from human power but from reliance on God. This verse is a powerful reminder that our ultimate security and deliverance come from the Lord, not from our own abilities or resources.

As a community, let us continually place our trust in God, especially in times of trial. Our boasting in God is not just words but an act of faith and trust. When we face difficulties, we should first turn to God in prayer, seeking His guidance and intervention. Let's also support one another, as you did for my father, creating a network of faith and encouragement.

Think about areas in your life where you may be relying more on your strength or resources than on God. Surrender these areas to Him, acknowledging that He is the source of all power and deliverance.

Lord, we thank You for Your faithfulness and mighty power. We boast in Your name, acknowledging that our help and hope are in You alone. Thank You for healing, for community, and for the ways You show up in our lives. Teach us to trust You more deeply, to lean not on our understanding but to acknowledge You in all our ways. Amen.

Let us go forward, boasting in our God, and encouraging others to see His greatness in their lives as well.
