Children of God and Halloween
Good Morning Ekklesia
Children of God and Halloween
In Ephesians 5:8-11 (NLT), Paul reminds us, “For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true. Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.”
As children of God, we are called to shine in a world often captivated by shadows. Halloween can seem like an innocent celebration of costumes and candy, but it’s also a moment to ask ourselves, “What does God’s light reveal here?” While God has given us commands for our good, He also gives us the freedom to choose how we walk daily in His light. We’re not forced; instead, God calls us to choose the path that honors Him.
Paul’s words aren’t a condemnation of fun but a reminder that everything we do reflects who we are in Christ. Halloween becomes an opportunity to show others a different kind of joy, one not shrouded in darkness. What if, instead of choosing to blend in with the shadows, we choose to offer kindness, hope, or even prayer to those around us? As parents, as friends, as believers, we have a choice—to lead with God’s light, even in times when the world is drawn to things that may not honor Him.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love and grace that lead us toward Your light. Help us to live as children of light, to see beyond earthly traditions, and to make choices that honor You. Give us courage to stand as reflections of Your love and truth. May our actions inspire others to seek You, even when the world chooses differently.
If you’re seeking a life led by God’s truth and light, we invite you to join us here at Ekklesia Christian Life Ministries. Come, let’s walk together in God’s light, discovering the fullness of joy in His love, as we learn to live in a way that reflects the beauty of being His children.
