Disturb Us Lord
"Disturb Us, Lord" - A Call to Greater Faith
GmEkklesia
Today's devotion is inspired by one of my favorite writings a prayer by Sir Francis Drake. I challenge you to look it up on google, its called, "Disturb Us Lord"
As we reflect on the words of Sir Francis Drake, we are reminded of the times when our lives seem too comfortable, when our dreams are small, and our ambitions too safe. These are moments when we need the Lord to disturb us, to shake us from our complacency. For when we become too well-pleased with ourselves, we risk losing our thirst for the deeper things of God. We forget that we are called not just to build a better life on earth, but to keep our eyes fixed on the eternal, on the new heaven that awaits us.
God, I need you to humble me. When I grow satisfied with what I have, remind me that my greatest need is for You, the living water that never runs dry. When I fall in love with the temporary pleasures of this world, rekindle my longing for the eternal joy that only You can provide. When I build my life around what I can see and touch, disturb me, Lord, and remind me that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).
The storms of life may be daunting, but it is in the storm that we see God's mastery. When we lose sight of the shore, we find the stars that guide us to our true destination. Lord, push back the horizons of our hopes. Lead us into the unknown, where Your strength, courage, hope, and love will sustain us.
As we embrace this prophetic call, let us pray:
Lord, disturb us when we become too comfortable in our own strength. Humble us when we rely on ourselves instead of on You. Push us into deeper waters, where we must depend on Your grace. Give us the courage to venture boldly, knowing that You are with us, guiding us by the light of Your Word. May we always seek the eternal, even as we live in the present, trusting that You are preparing a place for us in the new heaven. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
If you feel God stirring in your heart today, if you long for a deeper relationship with Him, we invite you to join the body of Christ and become part of Ekklesia Christian Life Ministries.
