Hebrews 11:1 (NLT)
"Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see."
"Faith is the confidence..."
The Greek word here for "confidence" (hypostasis) means "substance" or "foundation." Faith isn't just a wish or a vague feeling; it is a firm foundation — like a spiritual title deed — that what God has promised is already ours, even if we don't physically see it yet.
"...what we hope for will actually happen;"
Biblical hope is not like worldly hope (wishful thinking); it is expectant trust based on God’s promises. Faith is what grounds that hope into real, lived trust in God’s faithfulness.
"it gives us assurance about things we cannot see."
Faith sees the invisible. It believes in realities that are not yet revealed to our physical senses — like God's working behind the scenes, His promises, His kingdom, His Son’s return.
In other words:
Faith allows us to live today as if tomorrow's promises are already fulfilled.
1. Walk by faith, not by sight.
Stop waiting for visible proof before you move forward. Trust God based on His Word, not on your feelings or circumstances.
2. Anchor your hope in God's promises.
Write down specific promises from Scripture that apply to your life and declare them daily. Faith grows as you focus on His Word.
3. Train your spiritual vision.
Regular prayer, worship, and Bible study help you "see" the unseen — like Abraham did when he believed he would have descendants without yet having a son (Hebrews 11:8–12).
4. Testify even before it happens.
Begin thanking God in advance for what you are believing Him for. Speak it as already done, because faith believes without needing to see.
Father, I thank You that faith is not a feeling but a foundation. Strengthen me to trust You even when I cannot trace You. Teach me to walk by faith and not by sight. I surrender my doubts, fears, and timelines to You. Build in me the confidence to hope against all odds, and the assurance that Your Word will never fail. I believe even when I cannot see. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
If you have never trusted Jesus Christ, today is the perfect day. Faith begins by believing that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for your sins, and that He rose again to give you eternal life.
Romans 10:17 (NLT) says,
"So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ."
Will you receive Him today?
If so, say:
"Lord Jesus, I believe. I trust You. I give You my life. Lead me, save me, and fill me with Your Spirit. Amen."
