Is This YOUR Choice or GOD'S Choice?
Is This YOUR Choice or GOD'S Choice?
A Devotional by Ekklesia Christian Life Ministries
Good morning Ekklesia Family
Life is a series of choices we make every day—hour by hour, minute by minute. Each decision carries consequences that shape our lives and impact those around us. Some choices bring life and growth, while others lead to harm and regret. Though life isn’t always black and white, God has given us His Word to guide us toward decisions that align with His purpose. By His power, we can make good choices, or else, by default, fall into the destructive patterns of our human nature.
The first story of choice in Scripture takes us back to the Garden of Eden. In Genesis 3, Eve stood before the forbidden fruit. The serpent whispered, "Did God really say?" She made a choice—to trust her understanding over God's wisdom. She ate the fruit and shared it with Adam, and the result was sin entering the world. This moment reminds us that every decision is an opportunity to trust God or to follow our own desires.
We all face this same choice daily. Will we believe the enemy’s lie that we can manage life better on our own? Or will we surrender to God’s way—the way of truth and life? God’s Word teaches us that His way leads to peace, purpose, and eternal life. In contrast, choosing our own way leads to emptiness and destruction.
Genesis 3:1-7 (NLT) recounts the story:"The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, 'Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?' … The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too."
We are constantly pulled between two forces—God and the enemy. One leads to life; the other to destruction. Today, make the deliberate choice to trust God. Choose His truth over the lies of the world. Rely on His strength to fight against the natural tendencies of the flesh.
Heavenly Father, we come to You today, surrendering our hearts and decisions into Your hands. Forgive us for the times we’ve trusted ourselves over You. Fill us with Your wisdom and courage to choose Your way. Teach us to lean on Your truth, and let Your Spirit guide us into the path of life. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, you don’t have to walk this journey alone. God’s strength is within you, and He has given you His Word as a lamp to guide your steps. When you choose God, you choose life.
If you’re ready to make the ultimate choice to follow Jesus, we invite you to join us at Ekklesia Christian Life Ministries. Let’s walk this journey of faith together. Visit us at ekklesiachristianlife.org and discover the power of living for Christ.
Pause before every decision and ask yourself, “Is this my choice or God’s choice?” Let His Word shape your steps, and choose the path that leads to life.
