Obedience and Confidence

Good morning Ekklesia

Today, let's look at Psalm 40:8 & 1 John 3:21-22

Psalm 40:8 – "I delight to do Your will, O my God, and Your law is within my heart."

1 John 3:21-22 – "Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do what pleases Him."

In Psalm 40:8, David declares his joy in doing the will of God, for God’s law is not just an obligation, but a treasured guide deeply rooted in his heart. This is not mere duty, but a reflection of an intimate relationship with God, where obedience flows naturally from a heart that has been transformed by His love.

Similarly, in 1 John 3:21-22, we see that when our hearts are aligned with God's will, we experience a profound confidence before Him. This confidence is not in ourselves, but in the assurance that God hears and answers our prayers. It is a confidence born from living a life that pleases Him—keeping His commandments and walking in His ways.

As disciples of Christ, we are called to delight in God’s will, just as David did. This means allowing His Word to shape our thoughts, decisions, and actions. When our hearts do not condemn us, when we live in the righteousness of Christ, we can approach God boldly, knowing that He hears us and will answer according to His perfect will.

This is the essence of Christian discipleship: a life surrendered to God, living not for our desires but for His glory. It’s about choosing daily to walk in His ways, trusting that He knows what is best for us, and that His commands are the path to true joy and peace.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word, which is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Help us, Lord, to delight in Your will as David did, to cherish Your commandments as the foundation of our lives. Grant us a heart that seeks after You, that we may live in confidence before You, knowing that our prayers are heard and answered. Strengthen us as Your disciples, that we might walk in Your ways, bearing fruit for Your Kingdom. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Beloved, today is the day to embrace the fullness of what it means to be a disciple of Christ. It’s time to let God’s law be written on your heart, to live in the freedom that comes from obedience to His will. Join us at Ekklesia Christian Life Ministries, where together, we grow in faith, encourage one another, and walk boldly in the confidence that comes from knowing and loving our Savior.
