What Walls Have You Built?

Good morning Ekklesia

"What Walls Have You Built?"

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (NLT): “We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.”

Walls are often built to protect, but in relationships and faith, they can become strongholds—barriers that keep us from experiencing God’s love, His truth, and the abundant life He promises. Paul speaks to this in 2 Corinthians, calling these walls "obstacles" and "strongholds." The Greek word for "stronghold" (ὀχύρωμα, ochyroma) refers to a fortified place, something resistant to penetration.

These walls might look like pride, unforgiveness, fear, or doubt. They shield us from vulnerability but also isolate us from God and others. God’s mighty weapons—prayer, faith, His Word—are tools to tear down these barriers.

1. Identify the Walls: Take a moment today to ask yourself: What walls have I built? Is it fear of rejection? Hurt from a past relationship? Or pride that says, “I don’t need anyone”? Write these down and bring them before the Lord.

2. Use God’s Weapons: Commit to prayer and the Word of God daily. His truth is sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Pray specifically for strength to dismantle these walls.

3. Take the First Step: Faith requires action. If you’ve avoided vulnerability with God or others, take one step today—whether it’s apologizing, forgiving, or simply opening your heart in prayer.

Heavenly Father, we come before You today, acknowledging the walls we’ve built—walls of pride, fear, and hurt that have kept us from fully trusting You and others. Lord, we surrender these strongholds to You, asking for Your mighty power to tear them down. Replace them with faith, hope, and love. Teach us to trust You with our hearts and relationships, knowing that Your plans are always for our good. Encourage us to take bold steps of faith, believing that with You, no wall is too high to fall. Amen.

Are there walls in your heart that you’ve been afraid to bring to God? Jesus stands ready to help you tear them down. If you’ve never accepted Him as your Savior or need to recommit your life, today is the day. Come to Him as you are—walls and all—and let Him transform your heart. Join us at ekklesiachristianlife.org or in person at 3960 Cane Run Rd. this Sunday at noon. Let’s grow together in faith, love, and trust.

Love U more than U know,

Pastor Stephän
